Fully engaged in the middle of nowhere - How we spent our time at the Datumo Camp 2023

A weekend with company colleagues is an excellent way to get our team together and build bonds outside of the daily routine. Since Datumo’s work has been predominantly remote since 2017 it’s absolutely essential for us to find ways to connect our team members and foster a sense of community. That’s why we hold a Datumo Camp once a year! In this blog you’ll discover how we spent our time this year and we’ll explore the benefits of a weekend company getaway and why it’s so important for our remote teams to avail of this opportunity.

This year, the Datumo Camp took place on June 17-19th in the Dziki Ogród resort in Wola Łagowska, Świętokrzyskie. We were basically in the middle of nowhere, in the fresh air surrounded by breathtaking scenery. We always try to find a special place for our group, where everyone can unwind in nature, take part in team building activities and enjoy evenings around the campfire. That’s why we chose Górski Ogród for this year’s edition.

Saturday

We kicked off the Datumo Camp 2023 with a BBQ where we also presented our plan of action for the weekend. Our CEO made a motivational speech to remind us why it’s so important to spend this time together as a team outside of work. Employee integration remains of utmost importance in the era of remote work. By actively investing in initiatives that foster collaboration, communication, and a sense of belonging we can ensure that our remote teams thrive, succeed, and feel connected. At the end of the speech, all our members received a gift - this year it was a branded hoodie, just look at these happy boys! We spent the rest of the evening gathered around the campfire, chatting late into the night. 

Sunday - funday!

On Sunday we decided to make the most of our free time by enjoying the facilities of the resort including the swimming pool, SPA zone, sauna and garden hot tube! 

After lunch, which was delicious by the way, we went on a tour of the local winery - Winnica Milanowska. Joanna - the passionate owner, shared captivating insights into running a vineyard in Poland, which unsurprisingly has been experiencing rapid growth. Thanks to her, we had the opportunity to taste several of her own varieties, which pleasantly surprised us with their exceptional flavors. After the tour, we took a moment to sit and relax and take in the beauty of the vineyard. Upon returning to the resort some of the team enjoyed a football match, while others watched some Formula 1.

Weekends like this serve as a reminder of the importance of spending time together as a team outside of work. While working remotely it’s easy to get lost in the virtual world, but it’s the genuine relationships and interactions that form the foundations of mental well-being. That’s why corporate team-building events are so important in Datumo’s work culture. Weekends like this are not just a break from the daily slog, they are an incredible opportunity to strengthen team bonds and create unforgettable memories. Company retreats serve as a fantastic reward for all our hard work. By giving employees a chance to relax, kick back and enjoy themselves, the retreats help maintain motivation and engagement. We always return to work feeling refreshed and ready for new challenges.
